David Gillick, a former professional athlete who retired from track and field in 2013, is renowned for his achievements including winning Ireland’s first sprint gold in 76 years at the European Indoor 400m Championships in 2005, a title he defended in 2009. He also competed in the 2008 Olympics and placed sixth in the 400m at the 2009 Berlin World Championships, holding both the indoor and outdoor Irish 400m records.
After retiring, David won celebrity MasterChef and successfully completed RTE’s demanding TV show, Hellweek. He has since become a prominent advocate for mental health and wellness, sharing his personal experiences and recovery strategies through public speaking and his best-selling books, “David Gillick’s Kitchen” and “Back On Track.”
David is also a respected figure in corporate wellness and performance coaching, frequently providing sports commentary for RTE, covering significant events like the Olympic Games. He contributes to athlete support as a founding member of the Olympic Federation of Ireland’s Athlete Commission and a member of Sport Ireland’s Anti-doping committee. David lives in Dublin with his wife Charlotte and their three children.
