Phil Healy’s journey from local GAA pitches to the Olympic stage is a story of resilience, adaptability, and continuous growth. One of Ireland’s most versatile sprinters, she has represented her country across the 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, and relay events at the highest level.
Known as the “Bandon Bullet,” Phil is a two-time Olympic finalist competing in the 200m, 400m, and Mixed 4×40 m relay at Tokyo 2020 and returning for the Women’s 4×400m relay at Paris 2024. At those Games, the nation held its breath as the team smashed the Irish record and finished fourth a performance that demonstrated Ireland’s sprinting class.
A European medallist and 17-time national champion, Phil made history as the second-fastest Irish woman ever over both 100 m and 200 m, breaking long-standing national records and driving a resurgence in Ireland’s sprint and relay success. She continued that momentum with a silver medal at the 2024 European Championships before helping secure a place in the Olympic final.
Phil’s career has included overcoming significant setbacks. After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, she fought through prolonged health challenges to rebuild fitness and return to world-class form — a testament to her determination, confidence, and belief.
Off the track, Phil holds a Master’s in Enterprise Computer Software and works as a software engineer, bridging elite sport and technology. A passionate advocate for women in STEM, she shows how high-performance habits and continuous improvement fuel innovation and success.
Driven, courageous, Phil inspires audiences to challenge limits and keep moving forward.
