Costas Markides is a prominent Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the London Business School, where he holds the Robert P. Bauman Chair of Strategic Leadership. Recognised globally as one of the foremost experts in business strategy and innovation, Markides has made substantial contributions to the field through his research, teaching, and writing. He has consistently been ranked among the world’s top 50 business thinkers by the Thinkers50 list.
Markides has authored several influential books on strategy and innovation, including “All the Right Moves,” “Fast Second,” “Game-Changing Strategies,” and “Organising for the New Normal.” His work explores critical themes such as how established companies can pursue radical or disruptive innovation, the management of business model innovation, and creating cultures of continuous innovation within organizations. His latest research focuses on how these strategic concepts can be applied to address significant societal issues like poverty, malnutrition, and climate change.
Born in Cyprus, Markides received his BA and MA in Economics from Boston University, followed by an MBA and Doctorate from Harvard Business School. He joined London Business School in 1990 and has since served in various leadership roles, including Chairman of the Strategy Department and member of the Academic Board of Executive Education. He also serves on the editorial boards of several prestigious academic journals and was a fellow at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
