Vicki O’Toole is the Former Managing Director of JJ O’Toole Ltd., Ireland’s leading packaging and design company founded in 1914. JJ O’Toole Ltd. is Ireland’s oldest packaging company, serving prominent clients such as Brown Thomas, Newbridge Silverware, Dunnes Stores, Blarney Woollen Mills, Lloyds Pharmacy Group, Adare Manor, and the Kilkenny Group.
Born and raised in Limerick, Vicki was deeply involved in equestrian events and sports during her childhood. After studying Law at UCC and working as an au pair in Paris, she returned to Ireland to work in the family business. In 1984, she met and married Fergus O’Toole, grandson of the company’s founder.
With the introduction of the bag tax in 2002, JJ O’Toole Ltd. faced significant financial challenges. Vicki joined the company part-time to support Fergus, who was struggling with ill health. Over time, she transitioned into a leadership role and became Managing Director in 2008 after Fergus retired. Following Fergus’s passing in 2010, Vicki revitalized the company, focusing on growth and eco-friendly products.
Former Managing Director of JJ O’Toole Vicki’s leadership earned her numerous accolades, including the Image Magazine Businesswoman of the Year Award (2014), Best Women-Led Business Ulster Bank Award (2015), and a finalist spot in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (2018). She was honored at a Mayoral Reception in 2022 and inducted into the Business Plus Hall of Fame.
In June 2022, Vicki sold JJ O’Toole Ltd. to Zeus and established her consultancy, Tola Consultancy, in December 2022. She enjoys mentoring young female entrepreneurs, speaking at events, and serving as Vice Chairman of the Limerick Race Course. In her free time, Vicki gardens, walks, and plans to return to golf. She also aspires to write a book and start a podcast.
