Gavin Hastings is a legendary figure in rugby, widely regarded as one of Scotland’s greatest players. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Gavin achieved 61 caps as full-back for Scotland, captaining the team 20 times. He also led the British & Irish Lions on their 1993 tour to New Zealand. Throughout his illustrious career, Gavin scored 667 international points, a record for Scotland until 2008. He played his last international game at the 1995 Rugby World Cup and retired from rugby shortly thereafter.
Following his rugby career, Gavin transitioned into business and public speaking. He founded Hastings International, a consultancy that manages sponsorship deals and corporate branding. He has been instrumental in projects such as Scotland’s 2009 Ryder Cup bid. In recognition of his services to rugby, he was awarded an OBE in 1993 and inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2003 and the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2013. Additionally, Gavin is a patron of the Sandpiper Trust, a charity that provides life-saving medical equipment in rural Scotland.
