Simon Delaney is a renowned Irish actor who has starred in numerous high-profile Irish and international films and television series. He is known for his versatile roles in RTÉ’s comedy-drama Bachelors Walk and CBS’s legal drama The Good Wife, as well as in films such as Zonad (2009), Delivery Man (2013), and The Conjuring 2 (2016). In addition to his acting career, Delaney has made his mark as a TV and radio host, notably hosting the TV3 morning show Saturday AM since 2015.
Delaney’s early work includes being a “Ballydung Player” on A Scare at Bedtime. His first high-profile role was in Bachelors Walk, where he portrayed one of three bachelors living together in a Dublin flat, a series that ran from 2001 until 2003 and included a Christmas special in 2006. He appeared as Grogan in On the Nose (2001) alongside Dan Aykroyd and Robbie Coltrane. Delaney then starred as the title character in Zonad, directed by John Carney, and gained further recognition through a high-profile role in the Tesco Mobile Ireland TV advertising campaign.
From 2009 to 2013, Delaney played Bill O’Brien in the BAFTA-winning cartoon mockumentary Roy. He also appeared in the Irish version of the genealogy TV series Who Do You Think You Are? in 2009. In October 2011, Delaney played an Anglo-Hiberno lawyer in CBS’s The Good Wife, and in 2012, he appeared in the series Touch and the comedy series Moone Boy on Sky 1.
Delaney played Victor, the brother of the lead character played by Vince Vaughn, in the 2013 film Delivery Man. In 2014, he appeared as Tom Crews in Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie and later joined the cast of Sky 1’s sitcom Trollied as Brendan O’Connor. He also toured with Mrs. Brown’s Boys in 2015 with their live show How Now Mrs Brown Cow.
