Nutritionist & Coach Jonny Holland is a former professional rugby player with Munster rugby. After retiring from the game at 25, due to a hamstring injury that refused to recover, Jonny completed a post graduate degree in Applied Sports & Exercise Nutrition.
During his time as an athlete Jonny focused much of his attention on nutrition and doing as much as he could to lead a healthy lifestyle and achieve goals. Professional rugby gave Jonny the exposure to top class coaches in all areas including nutrition, sports science, mental skills and balancing lifestyle.
Educating himself in nutrition allowed Jonny to combine his practical experiences at an elite level with science to achieve his goals beyond a rugby career. Jonny’s professional journey is characterised by his role as a performance nutritionist for Cork Senior Hurling and Football teams since 2018, Cork Ladies Football since 2020, and his significant involvement in rugby as the head coach of Cork Constitution and a rugby columnist for RTE since 2019.
Jonny’s aim is to be able to help as many people with a particular focus being an elite nutritionist & coach. From his own experience as a professional rugby player forced to retire early Jonny also heavily focuses much of his time into helping others recovery from injuries both physically and mentally. As like own career, resilience and adapting to change play are key themes discussed by elite nutritionist & coach Jonny Holland.
With his career foundation in rugby, Jonny’s expertise spans beyond the playing field into nutrition and coaching, leveraging his experiences to enhance performance and well-being in sports and corporate environments. His practice covers a wide spectrum, from assisting elite athletes and teams in achieving optimal performance to guiding individuals in weight management, muscle building, and establishing healthy nutrition routines. Jonny’s work extends to delivering health and wellness workshops and seminars for a variety of audiences, including corporate clients like Twitter and Eli Lilly, educational institutions, and sports clubs.
